When you kill low lvl mobs you get around 2-3 weapon exp, however, when you reach lvl 60 and kill low lvl mobs you get 20-30 weapon exp.
There are three different factions in New World, and each one of them has the main objective of taking control of Aeternum. However, those looking to rapidly level their weapon mastery, plus gain a significant amount of character XP, should frequently participate in PvP. While you do start with a Sword and Shield I find that the Warhammer and the Hatchet are my preferred starting weapons. Some great entry-level PvP Weapons are of course, right out of Molten Core. One settlement, in particular, is a great farming location to earn Faction rewards and XP in New World quickly and efficiently.
